I am a big believer that companies are living entities. They are constantly trying to get better, make changes, and evolve over time.

This year will be all about Potomac evolving into the next stage of growth which I have so eloquently dubbed Potomac 2.0.

There are two major factors for our glam up.

  • There are certain revenue levels that allow a company to flex their muscles, and Potomac is at those levels. We no longer require partnerships or need to kowtow to larger firms.  We can bully our competitors and kick down doors.  If you know anything about us, this is the exact path we will take.

With 2024 in the review mirror, we have just put in one of the most impressive five year growth rates this industry has ever seen without any outside capital or M&A.

I want to take this moment to express my gratitude to all our financial advisors. We appreciate all of you for trusting us with your business; it’s been another phenomenal year, and here is a recap of some of our accomplishments and insight into our focus going forward.

Distribution: You can’t benefit from our strategies if you can’t use us. We have been hard at work getting our strategies on as many platforms as possible. In the past year, we have been added to some of the top TAMP platforms such as LPL MWP, Geowealth, and Cambridge CAAP to name a few. We will continue to invest in increasing our distribution footprint.

Sales Team: It is important to have sales coverage to support the now over 1,000 financial advisors that do business with Potomac. We continue to adjust and add to our sales team with the ultimate long-term goal of having an experienced sales professional within driving distance of every advisor we work with. These experienced professionals are ready to help you with education, support, client events, and everything Potomac!

Strategies: The greatest accomplishment in money management is often doing nothing. We don’t need to release new strategies or announce exciting new changes to the way we manage money. We take pride in the consistency of the lineup of strategies while delivering a risk managed and low correlated investment experience.

Guardrails: We have spent the last two years building and refining our SMA analytics and proposal tool, Guardrails. When we set out to build it, the initial plan was for this to be a FinTech tool available for any financial advisor. But we decided that it would be better suited in the hands of just OUR financial advisors. So, we decided to give it away.  If you are an advisor using any of Potomac’s strategies, you will now have access to this software free of charge.  Our goal is simple, we want you to make the best SMA asset allocation decision for your clients.

The future is bright as we continue to execute our aggressive growth plans while investing in rolling out tools and services to meet the needs of our advisors.

As the majority owner of Potomac, I just signed a 12-year lease on a new office space and my youngest kid is 4 years old.  There is a lot of runway ahead of me before I plan to exit stage left.

We are not done building.

Here is my promise to all our financial advisors…

  • I won’t be greedy and will continue to heavily reinvest back into the business.
  • I will allocate resources to hire the best people and invest in their future.
  • I will continue to refuse outside capital so the decisions we make are our own.
  • Our team will always answer the phone call, return the email, and never leave you hanging. Customer service will always be our top priority.
