Unless you’ve been living under a rock avoiding social media, you’ve probably heard about ChatGPT, the AI-powered language model developed by OpenAI. The program’s ability to generate human-like text responses to a wide range of questions and commands is, quite frankly, remarkable. After its release in November, it was a matter of days before it broke the internet, and raised the question on every content creator’s mind: “How can AI transform the writing process and increase output ten-fold?”
The potential effect ChatGPT, and other AI-powered language models, could have on the internet in the near future is seismic.
That being said, we want to take some time to introduce it to you. Will it solve all your problems? No. Will it create all your content for you? No. But it may just tackle the most daunting element every marketer has faced for the past two centuries:
The blank page.
Getting Started
It’s important to acknowledge that there isn’t one way or process. There are hundreds of use cases and starting points to get your creative juices flowing. This is just one example we developed to introduce Advisors to the possibilities in front of you.
To begin, you’re going to feed ChatGPT a command of some sort. Let’s say we are at square one and want some help figuring out a topic. We could start by asking it, “What are some longtail keyword ideas about the importance of having a financial planner?”
Let’s expand on idea number seven, “financial planning for unexpected events with a professional advisor.”
To do that we’ll say, “Write a blog outline about keyword number seven.” In a matter of seconds, it generates this:
Insane, right? Continue the process by asking it to write individual sections and pasting the results in a document, slowly building an entire article.
Mess Around with It
You may not get the desired output the first time. But one of the amazing features of using an AI program like ChatGPT, is you’ll get different results every time. So, see what it might generate a second time using the same prompt. If it’s too serious, ask it to rewrite the same section in a funnier tone. If it’s too short, ask it to write more. If you want everything rewritten and optimized around a certain keyword, say so. It’ll even write your titles for you.
Bend the parameters to your needs and more often than not, even if it isn’t perfect, it’ll push you in the right direction.
Review Your Results
ChatGPT is an unbelievable resource, but it isn’t a one-stop shop. If used correctly, it will do A LOT of the work for you, but there are certain steps you need to take to ensure the quality and success of each blog.
Information and Grammar
Like any AI model, it isn’t perfect and can make mistakes from time to time. While it has been trained on a large collection of data, it’s still a machine and may not always provide accurate or complete information. It’s also worth noting that its training data has a cut-off point of 2021, so it may not be the most up-to-date subject to subject.
It’s important for users to critically evaluate the answers they receive and double-check the information. Always use common sense and good judgment when interpreting the answers. ChatGPT is a cheat code for writing, but don’t ever rely on it as a sole source of information.
Another element of reviewing beyond factual information is the writing itself. You’ll be doing some rewriting as is for the sections that follow this one, but it’s always smart to take AI generated content and run it through a free service like Grammarly to make sure anything incorrect is caught, and any awkward writing gets straightened out.
Test and Reword Your Blog for AI-Detection
You need to be aware that search engines are constantly evolving and working to improve their ability to detect and filter out AI content. This is due to the increasing prevalence of it on the internet, which can sometimes be low-quality or spammy. Search engines are becoming more sophisticated in their ability to identify and filter it out, so it’s important for users to take steps to ensure that any AI-generated content is of high quality, adds value to the user, and is rewritten in a way that is human enough to bypass AI-detection. This will help to improve the visibility and ranking of your content on search engines and ensure that users are receiving the best possible results.
There are a number of resources to test the “human-ness” of your article, like Content at Scale, which gave this article a reading score of 91% human, 9% fake. (Which is a higher mark than we give our CMO.)
Personalize It to Match Your Brand
Take the time to review and personalize the blog to ensure that it’s written in a style that aligns with your brand voice and tone. You don’t have to rewrite everything, but you’ll want to rewrite some text to ensure that it is written in a way that is engaging and relevant to your audience, in a way that sounds like you.
Take Off the Training Wheels

This tool is here to simplify the process and save you time, but it’s critical that you have checks and balances in place to make sure everything is as human-like, accurate, and true to your brand as possible.
